Laboratory of Asphalt Concrete Tests according to European standards

 ABOUT THE PROJECT

Laboratory was developed at the department of "Roads and bridges" for Car and Road Building Faculty, specializes in the researches:

  • Influence of polymer-bitumen binders elastases on the properties of bituminous concrete;
  • Influence of modifying additives on the properties of bituminous concrete;
  • Properties of modified with Nano additives bituminous concrete;
  • Research of asphalt for concrete rutting resistance, frost action, and cyclic stress.

The laboratory that equipped in accordance with modern European and the world standards performs the following works:

  • Selection of the asphalt concrete mixture;
  • Standard tests for bituminous concrete on compliance to requirement documents in force on territory of the Russian Federation;
  • Test the samples of bituminous concrete with rolling load in accordance with EN12697-22 (for rutting);
  • Test the samples of bituminous concrete for cycling compression in accordance with EN12697-25;
  • Endurance life test according to EN12697-24;
  • Stiffness test according to EN12697-26;
  • Cooling test of samples of bituminous concrete in accordance with EN12697-46;
  • Breakdown test of samples of bituminous concrete according to EN12697-46.

Equipment for the study of thermal stresses in the bituminous concrete based on InfraTest UTST

Testing system for tests according to EN 12697-46

  • Uniaxial Tension Stress Test (UTST)
  • Thermal Stress Restrained Specimen Test (TSRST)
  • Relaxation Test (RT)
  • Tensile Creep Test (TCT)

1. Thermal Stress Resrained Specimen Test (TSRST):

  • Temperature range  -45 .. +20 °C
  • Cool-down Rate - 10 K / hour.
  • The length of the sample remains constant.
  • Heat stress measuring during the sample test

2. Uniaxial Tension Stress Test (UTST)

  • Constant temperature (-10, -25 +20, +5, °C).
  • Sample rate of extension is 1 mm / min.
  • Measure the rupture stress.

3. Tensile Creep Test (TCT):

  • In operation with a constant temperature (-10, -25 +20, +5, °C).
  • DC voltage;
  • Toughness curve of material

4. Relaxation Test (RT):

  • Constant temperature (-10, -25 +20, +5, °C).
  • The proof sample is spread and incubated. Tension is increasing and then decreasing (stress relaxation).
  • Determine the relaxation time when the voltage is 36%.
  • Toughness curve of material

  • Temperature range -40 .. +60 °C
  • Force  max. 10 kN
  • Displacement transducers accuracy class 0,1

Gauging machine for measuring the depth of rutting ("Wheel")

The equipment is designated for testing of bituminous concrete of resistance to rutting.

It allows defining the following test results:

Absolute value of the track;

Relative quantity of the track;

Intensively of buildup of the track depending on the passage of a test wheel.

  • The value of the transmitted force to the movement of test wheels - 750 N
  • Provided temperature during the test - 30-700 °C.
  • The maximum size of the samples - 430 × 280 mm, height 40-120 mm samples.
  • Measurement range of the track 0-20 mm, resolution ability - 0.01 mm.

Gyrator for the production of bituminous concrete samples

It is intended for the production of cylindrical specimens of bitumen-concrete mix according to EN12697-31 diameter of 100 mm and 150 mm.

Technical data:

  • Compaction force  200 ... .1000 kPa;
  • Angle, default setting - 1,250;
  • Rate speed of 30 ± 0,5 1 / min.

Road-roller sector seal

It is intended for the production of samples (plates) of hot bitumen-concrete mix in the laboratory in accordance with EN12697-33.  The compaction requirements as close as possible to the as close as possible during the performance of the work of bituminous concrete laying.

Technical data:

  • Compaction force 30 kN;
  • Radius of the sealing sector 550 mm;
  • The number of passes of sectors per minute - 45.
